Well,
It is almost over, and I can tell you that it was not at all what I dreamed it would be. That is not to say that it was a drag! I had many great times and made several wonderful memories. I had some family time, some amazing events at the church, camps and conferences with the teens, and made preparations for a new ministry school year. I spent time with my daughter in a new endeavor (high school basketball) and enjoyed watching as she made some new friends. So why the question of my title, you might ask?
There was definitely something missing. Do you know what it was? REST. True physical, emotional, and spiritual rest. I am learning that rest is so very important for my well being. This is an ongoing journey for me as I seek an appropriate balance between home, ministry (pastoring bi-vocationally), and work. There are many hats to wear and only my one pointed head to put them on! However, in the plan of an all-knowing Heavenly Father, I still need rest.
For more on this topic, check out the book Margin by Richard A. Swenson. My review of his book can be read in the link at the end of this article.
God bless!
